The snapshot utility backs up everything, including the drivers, and is available only on SecurePlatform.
Snapshot can be used to backup both your firewall and management modules.
The disadvantages of this utility are that the generated file is very big, and can only be restored to the same device, and exactly the same state (same OS, same Check Point version, same patch level).

Gaia's Backup feature allows backing up the configuration of the Gaia OS and of the Security Management server database, or restoring a previously saved configuration.

The configuration is saved to a .tgz file under /var/CPbackup/backups/ on Open Servers or /var/log/CPbackup/backups/ on Check Point appliances.

Backups can be stored locally or remotely on a TFTP, SCP or FTP server.
Backups can be run manually, or via a scheduled backup.

Restore is only allowed using the same Gaia version on the source and target computers. (R75.40, R75.40VS, R75.45, R75.46, R76)
